A Young Athlete ≠ A Prepared Athlete

A young body doesn't mean a prepared body.

Most programs throw kids into weightlifting and stomach-turning conditioning. But loud, random exercise doesn't make an athlete, any more than loud, random noise makes a musician. Kids first need the fundamentals of moving their bodies with precision and power.

From Coach Ryan

Why I Built This

Kids today are wildly underprepared for their sport. They play 17 sports a year, yet many can't jump over a loaf of bread, can't do 10 strict push-ups, and have no idea where their feet are in space.

Goofy movement, slow feet and weak arms and legs aren't a lack of athleticism. They're a lack of training. Going from soccer to volleyball to softball to track doesn't build a powerful athlete who resists injury. Specific strength and speed development does.

Kids need it most while they're growing. Through puberty, bodies grow fast and kids lose control of them. Their nervous system has to learn how to use the new body, and that takes the right training at the right time.

I built this for my own kids too. I want to see them eclipse my athletic career, with healthy bones, strong, durable connective tissue, and bodies built for a lifetime of being an athlete. Every athlete in this program gets coached the same way.

What Your Athlete Builds

Young athletes training lateral lunges at Movement Gym

Strong Joints

Flexibility + Strength = Mobility

Young athletes are flexible but lack control at key ranges of motion. Strength there protects them where injuries happen.

Athlete sprinting on the track

Real Speed

Stride Length Ă— Stride Frequency = Speed

Speed can be taught. By building running mechanics and foot and ankle control, ANYONE can learn to run faster.

Athlete's feet moving through an agility ladder

Quick Feet

Rhythm + Timing = Quick Feet

Footwork, footwork, footwork. Quicker and more athletic for football, baseball, soccer, volleyball and every sport.

What a Session Looks Like

60 minutes. 10 athletes max. Every rep coached.

01

Build the Base

Joint prep for the hips, knees, ankles and spine: range of motion and body control before load.

02

Train

Mondays: strength through the full range of motion. Thursdays: running mechanics, speed and footwork.

03

Put It to Work

Athletic drills that challenge speed, balance and coordination, so new strength shows up on the field.

Injuries happen for one reason

Force > Capacity

When force hits tissue faster than it can handle, it breaks. We build capacity first (joints, tendons, body control), so your athlete can handle the speed and the hits of their sport.

What You'll See by Spring

  • âś“Smoother, more fluid running
  • âś“Quicker feet and sharper cuts
  • âś“Stronger arms, legs and trunk: more push-ups, higher jumps
  • âś“Joints and tendons built to handle the load of sport
  • âś“An athlete who knows where their body is in space, and plays with confidence

Real change takes a season. That's why this is a full fall/winter program, not a drop-in workout.
